Poggio al Commessario - Organic - Montecucco Rosso DOC

Blend of Sangiovese (65%) Cabernet Sauvignon (15%) Merlot (15%) Alicante (5%).
The vineyards are Cessa del Civettaio and Poggio al Commessario ( Commessario means policeman - Maremma was a land of bandits).
All our vineyards are organic. The work of the soil, weeding and harvesting are done exclusively by mechanical means or manually. Vegetal fertilization is used with no chemicals. Grape thinning takes place in July to keep the yield low. Following some regular test to measure the level of sugar and acidity (Ph) in the grapes and depending on the richness of polyphenols, the harvest takes place at the best point of maturation, usually at the beginning of October. The grapes are picked by hand and carefully selected directly in the vineyards. The grapes arrive in the cellar, transported in small cases, where they are pressed.. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats and in oak tanks. At the end of the malolactic fermentation the wines are put together and aged until September when they are bottled. We do not filter the wines before bottling.

Characteristics: Elegant and intense to the nose with notes of Mediterranean vegetation, sun and hints of liquorice. Soft, well rounded and persistent in the mouth
